I had an idea to do an Ultra Fractal community collaboration project involving any Ultra Fractal users that are interested and would like to participate.  I think it will be fun and interesting to see what we create when we all work together.  This isn't a contest so there will be no winner or prizes, the idea is to get as many artists as we can working together to come up with something really cool.

It's finally collab time!!!!

How this is going to work:

I'm posting a basic parameter of 2 layers, what I want people to do is add their own layer or 2 without changing the formula.  It's pretty straight forward, anyone with any skill level using Ultra Fractal is welcome to participate.   The only exception to changing the formula is if you want to add a texture layer, I would prefer if everyone stuck to the formula that I've given but a pixel formula texture will be acceptable.  The reason for this is just to make the final image more like a cohesive piece of artwork and not like a big jumble of things.

When I have all of the layers I will be putting them together into one piece with input from whoever wants to help.  I'm still not exactly sure how assembly is going to go, so if anyone has opinions on that let me know.  We could even have a few people meet on msn or something to assemble the final piece, as I said that isn't set in stone yet, and depends on how people want to participate with it.  

Be as creative as you like! If the base layers I've given help inspire you in your work, feel free to leave them, if not just delete them and do as you want.  They might not even be a part of the final piece.  I *may* have to desaturate the colour on your layers or make changes to brightness, contrast, hue, etc. just to make it fit with the rest of the collab. I'll try to keep them as close to the original artist's intention as possible but given the way merge modes and many-layered pieces go in Ultra Fractal some changes may be necessary to keep the overall colour looking good.  Some parts may also be masked out, it depends on the way the final piece goes together and is really impossible to predict at this point.

If you're new to Ultra Fractal, don't worry about it too much.   I want as many people as possible to participate and there is definitely room for submitting a subtle texture layer, for example.  Get creative and play with it.   Also, if you need some help working on your layers by all means just ask.

We don't have to keep those layers by any means, I just made them as a quick example.  I chose a spiral because it's a classic fractal shape, something that represents the fractal community in my opinion.  If it helps your creativity at all, the purpose and theme of this collab is meant to be "Community"....

When your layers are done, just reply to this journal with the parameters or note me if you're happier with that method for some reason.  It would be helpful in the end if you could rename your layers with your screen name.  That way I can keep track of who submitted what, and keep things organized.  I'll also be posting a thread in my forum for the project, just in case it's needed.

For the final collab I will also be looking for someone to do the typography and border, etc. so keep that in mind and tell me if you'd like to do it.

Have fun with this, I would like to have all of the layers done for assembly in a couple of weeks.  I'll say the tentative deadline for your layers is April 1st but that is flexible if there are any problems.

And please spread the word!  It won't be a community project if we can't get too many people working on it.
