Avatar Hijacked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! D: - UPDATE

Journal Entry: Wed Jul 9, 2008, 1:53 PM

I've found another user that seems to have hijacked my avatar. :noes:  And then to make it worse, took credit when someone posted on his user page to tell him how nice it was. :ohmygod: :lmao:  I don't want to be too much of a jerk about it but I think it should go without saying that an avatar that someone has created specifically to represent their own presence in an online community should not be taken as free for your own use.  Make your own FFS.  This is a community for creative folks and it's not THAT hard. That is all. :)

I contacted the helpdesk about it yesterday so I hope it will be resolved soon.

Favourite quote of the day:  "HEAVY METAL MARTHA STEWART, ACTIVATE!" - nataliedee [link]
I am getting my shit together right now to bake some lemon and lime squares for a party this weekend. :headbang:

I'm not particularly happy about the avatar hijacking but I can't change the mood on this thing right now. :|  Fuck you, dancing loading dude.

UPDATE:  I got a reply back from the helpdesk and the avatar has been removed.  :w00t:

I've also just downloaded UF5, has anyone else tried it yet?  I won't be uploading any devs with it until I've paid for the upgrade but the new features sound awesome.

I don't think he's the only one that took it....This guy took it and changed the tint and added his name...Definitely just a tint change of yours-

It's not exactly the same, it doesn't have the shadow around the border - definitely used the same animation though and it does look a little too similar  I've been thinking it's time for a new avatar for a while.

I have my Avatar copyrighted in a nice .rar on a CD.
And a few little images with in my avatar to prove it is mine.
I think u would call them mistakes lol.

It is bad enough for someone to steal our art but our Avatars.

Just says "I have no talent to make my own." Thus I will still some else's.

Report them!.

That really sucks, stealing someone's avatar is really low!
I got UF5. Looks a lot faster then UF4 on Vista and the layer group feature is pretty awesome. I played a little with classes and found it a bit confusing at first but I think it's just a matter of getting used to it. Plus, there isn't much documentation yet on the topic for a beginner, imho. As for the image traps, I didn't try them yet but there have been some great discussion and tutorials about them on the mailing list. I highly recommend reading them if you are interested. :aww:

I'm enjoying the classes, I think they will make things a lot easier for formula writers and add a lot of versatility for artists as well. So many UF formulae share common code so I think it's just a very logical, needed feature. Layer groups are just kick ass. I haven't really tried importing any images either, I want to find out how large of an image I can import before it chokes to see how useful it will be for high res renders. I'm really not a fan of enlarging images I plan to print, even if it does incorporate a bicubic interpolation filter.

I've seen quite a few people using this or variations thereof - did you make it yourself or did you get it from somewhere else?

I started with this public domain animation: [link] and manipped it for myself with some new colours/background etc. I have seen others using the same tesseract animation as an avatar (like :iconnavagon:) and that's totally cool, tesseracts rock, but this user was using the avatar right off my page. I do use the avatar on my stock account as well: :icontrystian-stock:

:( I have to say, it is marvellously simple yet distinctive

thanks, I'm thinking about changing it now... some people said they've seen it around in other places  maybe make something more fractalish than just geometric, as cool as hypercubes are ;p
